2014 was a record year for FLSA violation cases

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) is one of the most important pieces of legislation impacting employers. The main federal law regulation minimum wage and overtime standards, employers who violate the FLSA can face major repercussions, including thousands of dollars in fines and back pay per employee.

In 2014, litigants filed 8,086 FLSA violations cases, the first time the number of cases filed by litigants has breached the 8,000 mark. And that’s not even the half of it.
