Important W-2 Information

2018 is almost over, which means it’s time to start thinking about your W-2.

This page is designed to provide G&A Partners’ clients and their employees with all the information they need to know about their W-2s.

What is a W-2?

The Form W-2 is a tax form that the IRS requires employers to use to report wage and salary information for their employees, as well as the amount of federal, state and other taxes withheld from each employee’s paycheck. Employees then use this form to prepare their annual tax return.

When will I receive my W-2?

2018 W-2s will be mailed, as required by law, by January 31, 2019, to employee addresses on file with G&A Partners as of December 28, 2018. 

If you want to receive your 2018 W-2 sooner, you can register to receive your W-2 electronically in lieu of receiving it via mail.  Electronic W-2s will be available for download by January 23, 2019, for all employees who register to receive their W-2s online before December 31, 2018.

How do I register to receive my W-2 electronically?

You can register to receive your W-2 electronically using the same system you use to check your paystubs online. To download instructions for how to register to receive your W-2 electronically, click on the appropriate button below.

IMPORTANT: If you have previously registered to receive your W-2 electronically through G&A Partners, you do not need to register again.  The election to receive your W-2 electronically remains in force until it is revoked in writing.  To revoke your election to receive your W-2 electronically, please submit a written request to the G&A Partners Customer Care Center at customercare@gnapartners.com.

How do I check or change my mailing address for my W-2?

Employees wishing to verify or update the address to which their W-2 is mailed must contact our Customer Care Center before December 28, 2018. The address on your W-2 cannot be corrected once it has been generated with the address on file for you as of December 28, 2018.

How do I update the Social Security number (SSN) on my W-2?

In order to update the SSN on your W-2, you must submit a copy of your Social Security card to G&A Partners before December 28, 2018, so we can update this information for you in our system.  Requests for updates to the SSN on W-2s received after this date will be processed as corrections.

Why did I receive more than one W-2?

Every company you were employed by in 2018 is legally required to send you a W-2. If you were employed by more than one employer in 2018, you will receive a W-2 from each employer. There are, however a few exceptions to this rule:

  • If you were employed by two “sister” or related companies that are both clients of G&A Partners, your earnings for both companies will be combined on one W-2.
  • If your company was a client of an HR company/PEO acquired by G&A Partners in 2018, you may receive two W-2s on behalf of your employer: one from G&A Partners, and one from your employer’s previous HR/PEO provider.

When will I receive my 1099?

If you are an independent contractor for and not an employee of the company for which you work, you will receive a Form 1099, not a Form W-2. G&A Partners does not report information for contract workers to any agency or mail copies of the Form 1099 to the contract workers. Instead, G&A Partners will provide the Form 1099 directly to the client company by January 30, 2019. (Unlike W-2s, 1099s are not available online.) Please contact your company directly with any questions about your 1099.
