The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) was passed to ensure eligible, covered employees could take a certain amount of (unpaid) time off to deal with their own or a close family member’s serious health condition without fear of losing their jobs. This over-broad definition, however, doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of the complexities of FMLA, which provides very specific guidelines on not only on the length of time an employee can take, but also on what qualifies as a “serious health condition,” as well as the specific responsibilities both employees and employers have when it comes to FMLA.
After viewing this webinar, you will come away with a better understanding of:
- The rights and responsibilities of both employees and employers under FMLA;
- How to recognize potential reasons for covered leave; and
- How to apply compliance guidance to your workplace.
This webinar was recorded on December 17, 2015, and presented by Torrence Freeman, PHR, an HR generalist for G&A Partners. Please be aware that per HRCI guidelines, only webinars recorded during the current calendar year are eligible for recertification credit for on-demand viewers.
